Vontron ULP Domestic RO Membrane Element

The Domestic ULP Reverse Osmosis Membrane developed by Vontron Membrane Technology, for the purification of water with a low dissolved solids content such as tap water or non-brackish groundwater. The main applications are for home water purifiers, laboratory testing equipment, small demineralisation systems, coffee and ice machines.

Vontron Domestic ULP Series RO Membranes are applicable for water with a TDS up to 250ppm.

What is a Reverse Osmosis Membrane?

RO or Reverse Osmosis is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable RO membrane to remove dissolved salts, metal ions and micro-organisms from water. In the reverse osmosis process, a pressure is applied to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property that is driven by chemical potential, a thermodynamic parameter.

Commercial RO Membranes can eliminate up to 99% of the Total Dissolved Solid Content of water with 1 pass through the membrane element. The economical variation in purification costs with an increased TDS makes Reverse Osmosis viable for desalinating brackish water with TDS concentrations of up to 10,000 ppm and for seawater purification at 49,000 ppm. Statistics show that Reverse Osmosis Technology is responsible for 42% of the total world desalination capacity, the largest contribution of 73% for the desalination of brackish water, while only 9% is for seawater applications.
